It all started when I caught MYSELF going in circles.
When I initially launched my namesake brand, I was more interested in getting it out there than building it strong. So against my better judgement, I winged it. Yeppp, that was me.. miss fashion-schooled, industry refined designer (who had worked for one of the most respected fortune 500 fashion apparel companies in the industry) ...WINGING IT. I was so determined to use my talent to go fast instead of being strategic haha. Not a good move.
Long story short, that cost me loads of time, frustration, my own capital and I alllmost gave up on my designpreneur dreams, because on top of the fact that I was going in circles, I had my hands full with my 3 and 5 year old at the time. And then it hit me - success leaves clues. Why was I re-inventing the wheel when I could simply build my business the way the big brands do, but without all the red-tape?? I had lived and breathed the real fashion industry for well over a decade. So right then, I made the decision to work smarter.
I got focused, rebranded and relaunched using the strategies that foster ease and longevity in the fashion industry. That one shift resulted in a booming DTC business, seasonal specialty store orders, fashion industry expert panels, and more recently, the resolve to take it even further by teaching emerging designers (who are eager like I was) how to streamline operations so they can build a business they're proud of - without the burnout.
WHAT WORKED FOR ME STARTED WORKING FOR THEM TOO
When I started to make changes that maximized my capital, optimized my time, embraced my brand essence and grew my customer base there was a clear cadence that began to show up in my business. I experienced a level of clarity and meaningfulness that reminded me that my brand was actually bigger than me. I wasn't just creating clothes for creation sake, I was operating in purpose, on purpose.
Over time I realized that I had a unique experience in the fashion industry and approach to designpreneurship that could help independent designers who have been approaching me for industry insights and guidance from day one.
